Architect PropTech provider LARKI lands $1.4 million led by Nightingale Partners - Melbourne-born digital twin start-up sets sights on expansion after winning a major pre-seed investment by Lindsay Phillips’ Nightingale Partners and Derek Sheen. Australian PropTech firm LARKI, provider of 3D laser scans and city models for architects, has won a major cash boost from one of the country’s leading private equity firms and a recently exited e-commerce founder. An AUD$1.4M investment, led by Nightingale Partners and including Derek Sheen of recently sold Yellow Octopus ecommerce platform, puts LARKI on a solid footing to expand its innovative platform and 3D data provision to architects and the wider property industry. Servicing major metros on the east coast of Australia, LARKI is laying the foundations for international expansion. Simon Cookes, CEO and co-founder of the four-year-old business, which has offices in Melbourne and Sydney said, “This backing from Nightingale Partners has come at just the right time, allowing us to drive forward plans to make LARKI synonymous with high-resolution 3D city models online, here in Australia but soon all over the world.” Lindsay Phillips, Chairman and Managing Director at Nightingale Partners and lead investor said, “I liked LARKI’s cloud-based information platform for architects, which will make design and approval processes easier and faster. We’re excited to be involved with co-founders of great quality and with an excellent blend of experience.” About LARKI Founders Co-founded by Simon Cookes CEO - an architect with experience on stadia, towers and homes as well as an architecture researcher, teacher and awards judge - together with co-founder Daniel Moore an x-CSIRO software engineer. What we do In the PropTech Digital Twin world, LARKI is a frictionless 3D data ordering (Data-as-a-Service) and 3D viewing platform (Software-as-a-Service), which aggregates 3D laser scan data captured from planes, cars, tripods and drones (LiDAR) to then convert the resultant point cloud data into architectural 3D models. Put simply: a high-resolution, laser scanned version of 3D Google Earth Pro for architects, property developers and planners. LARKI enables architects to get a precise 3D representation of their sites downloaded in minutes to help speed up their designs. Government planners have detailed and measurable site information so they can make quick approvals (DAs), speeding up the main bottleneck in property development (and holding cost drain). Ultimately, SME property developers planning to build can save many months and tens of thousands off their projects. Progress LARKI has already amassed a stellar list of customers including JLL, Victoria State Government, Deakin University, MAB and the most recent Architecture Institute Gold Medal winner John Wardle Architects. With revenue doubling in the last 12 months and a new office Brisbane soon to open, LARKI looks set to dominate the 3D survey landscape here in Australia before taking its tech and 3D city data abroad.
