Recycle, earn and give back with Return and Earn at Holbrook - Return and Earn
9 Apr 2025 9:00 AM
Why not kick off April by doing something that’s good for both you and the environment? Bring your bottles, cans, and cartons down to the Return and Earn machine at the Holbrook Sporting Complex and get 10c back for every eligible drink container you return while helping to reduce local waste.
"Whether you’re saving for something special or supporting a cause close to your heart, it’s an easy way to contribute to the Holbrook community and help the environment. Families can include Return and Earn in their routine by taking their drink containers to the next training session or game and earn a little extra cash," said James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, network operator for Return and Earn.
More than 13.3 billion drink containers have been returned for recycling through the network of over 660 return points across NSW since Return and Earn began, resulting in over $1.3 billion in container refunds back in people’s pockets.
“Greater Hume Council residents are enthusiastic recyclers, having returned over 10 million eligible bottles, cans and cartons through local return points since the scheme began,” said Mr. Dorney.
The Holbrook Sporting Complex Return and Earn machine is conveniently located in the carpark near the basketball courts and tennis courts at lot 186 Bowler Street. It is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm daily.
The Holbrook machine is one of the larger Return and Earn machines to support the community’s enthusiastic use of the scheme. It has two chutes for lightweight containers (aluminium cans, plastic bottles and cartons) and two chutes for glass containers, making it a quick and hassle-free way to recycle while getting cash back.
Users of the machine can print a voucher for the refund amount, which can be redeemed for cash or purchases at Holbrook News and Gifts , or they can opt for payment directly into their bank or PayPal account using the Return and Earn app.
Locals can also donate their refund to one of over 300 donation partners listed on the Return and Earn app. There are a variety of fantastic organisations supporting the Holbrook community including Little Wings who provide air and land transport to seriously ill children and their families to access lifesaving medical treatment and Vinnies who offer a variety of services to help people in need.
Alternatively, you can donate to the current statewide donation partner Foodbank NSW & ACT. Foodbank is a food relief charity providing much needed assistance to individuals and families across NSW and the ACT. Donating just 5 containers creates 1 meal for Foodbank.
Return and Earn has become a key fundraising channel for many charities and community groups in NSW. Over $72 million has been raised from donations and fees from hosting return points since the scheme launched in 2017.
